Led by clinicians
Trusted by courts
MLUK delivers high-quality psychiatry and psychology reports across criminal, family and civil cases. Our team combines clinical expertise with a deep understanding of the legal process to provide impartial and reliable assessments.
Clinical expertise
We believe that justice requires a clear understanding of mental health. As practising clinicians who serve as expert witnesses, we provide the psychiatric and psychological assessments that courts rely on to answer key questions:
- Did mental illness influence a person's behaviour?
- Is an individual fit to stand trial?
- How has trauma affected an individual or their family, and what support do they need?
- Can a parent with mental illness provide good enough parenting to their child?
- How much has an injury contributed to psychiatric illness?
- How much future risk does an individual pose?
- Does an individual have litigation capacity and what support might they need in proceedings?
- How has a child been affected by parental mental disorder or substance use?
By combining clinical expertise with legal insight, MLUK delivers these evaluations with compassion, precision and an unwavering commitment to fairness.

What we do
At MLUK we specialise in providing expert psychiatric and psychological services across a range of legal proceedings. We adhere to legal aid rates, and provide competitive rates for private paying clients. Our clinical team offers:
Criminal law
services
Expert evaluations to assess fitness to plead, intent and availability of mental disorder defences. Our reports assist the Court in understanding the role of mental disorder on offending, and in sentencing mentally disordered offenders. We make recommendations for treatment and liaise with treatment services if needed.
Family law
services
Sensitive assessments of parenting capacity, parental mental health and children's well-being. We help courts make informed decisions about custody, contact and care.
Civil law
services
We provide expertise in personal injury, employment, immigration, clinical negligence and housing cases, documenting the psychological and psychiatric effects of trauma, accidents, unsafe living conditions or medical negligence. Our clear, practical recommendations support rehabilitation and guide fair outcomes.
Parole board
& Tribunals
We provide expert evaluations of individuals, assessing mental state, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment progress, and suitability for release or continued detention. Our reports offer independent, evidence-based opinions that assist decision makers, such as tribunal panels and parole boards, in determining whether individuals meet the legal and clinical criteria for discharge or conditional release. Our reports are impartial and adhere to professional and legal standards.
Client testimonials
Our clients appreciate our professionalism and care. Here are what solicitors have said about working with us:
Our commitment

We support the court process with clear, balanced evidence, and we mentor the next generation of expert clinicians. We never judge our clients; instead we provide a calm, safe space for them to share their story. We always deliver on time and stand by the quality of our work.
What do we look
for in clinicians?

- Have deep clinical expertise and current practising experience
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy when working with clients
- Communicate clearly and objectively in both interviews and written reports
- Embrace continuous learning and openness to peer review and mentorship
